The SEER School Philosophy and Goals

To accomplish our mission, The SEER School strives to:

  • Provide a personalized education for students of all abilities, grades k-8, within a multiage setting.
  • Utilize a constructivist approach to learning within all lessons.
  • Promote student centered learning through thematic study units.
  • Encourage constant exploration in an active, non-graded learning environment.
  • Nurture student use of dialogue and self-expression through individual projects and/or small and large group opportunities.
  • Model purposeful, real-life strategies to guide students towards meaningful self-assessment and educational progress.
  • Develop a sense of teamwork through cooperative learning play.
  • Encourage development of student-led lessons and workshops.
  • Participate in unexpected, yet timely lessons within our community.
  • Incorporate use of all learning styles within study units and promote the learning cycle model: discovery, introduction, and concept application.
  • Model and expect that all students will practice and use the Four R's with everyone and everything, everywhere. We show: Respect, Responsibility, Restraint, and Reasonability towards everyone, everything, everywhere
